Edgar Wright fans, rejoice: you no longer have to wait until fall this year to see the filmmaker’s latest picture, aptly titled The World’s End. Distributor Focus Features has decided to push the movie’s U.S. opening date up from October 25th to August 23rd, putting audiences two whole months closer to its theatrical run.
Though no rationale was offered, the studio’s announcement comes four months after principal photography on The World’s End wrapped last December. No longer in competition with Paramount’s Paranormal Activity 5, the move now puts Wright’s film up against Sony’s The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and Lionsgate’s You’re Next, both mid-to-low budget genre productions.
